1. What “Globe Starlink” actually is
Globe partnered with Starlink to launch Direct-to-Cell satellite service.
- Your regular 4G phone connects directly to satellites
- No dish, no extra device needed
- Works only when there’s little or no signal from towers
Think of it as backup signal from space, not your main internet.
🔹 2. About the “299” (important ⚠️)
Right now, ₱299 is NOT confirmed as a standard Starlink plan.
Most likely:
- It’s either a promo/add-on (trial or limited)
- Or people are confusing it with Globe GoSURF299 (regular data promo, not satellite)
👉 The real Starlink direct-to-cell service is still:
- In testing / early rollout
- Not widely available for normal prepaid/postpaid users yet
🔹 3. How it will work (once active)
When Globe Starlink is fully available, usage will be like this:
✅ Requirements
- Globe SIM
- 4G/LTE phone
- Open sky / outdoor area
✅ Steps (expected)
- Turn mobile data ON
- Turn roaming ON (important)
-
If no signal → phone may:
- Automatically connect OR
- You manually select a network (e.g. “Globe Starlink”)
✅ Then you can:
- Send messages
- Use basic data
- Maybe calls (later phase)
🔹 4. Limitations (very important)
- 📡 Needs clear view of sky
- 🐢 Slower than normal LTE/5G
- 📶 Works mainly in remote / no-signal areas
- 💸 May be expensive or limited apps only
- ❌ Not a replacement for regular data
🔹 5. Why you might not see it yet
Even if you heard about “299”:
- Globe is still rolling it out slowly
- Some features appear in GlobeOne app but not active yet
- Full public launch = still ongoing/testing phase
✅ Bottom line
- “Globe Starlink 299” is not fully usable yet for most users
- You don’t install anything—it will work automatically once available
- It’s mainly for emergency/remote connectivity, not everyday internet
